Congratulations, Class of 2015!! You did it!! All your hard work for the past 12 years have led to this point. Some of you will be off to college. and others will be starting work right away. Whatever path you choose—make it GREAT! Life will be full of ups and downs, but we know that you have the strength to pull through.
Here a list of things we recommend for graduating seniors:
Enjoy this last summer at home
Even if it’s only a few weeks before you go off on your next adventure, enjoy every moment at home before things change. It’s easy to only look ahead, but don’t forget to live in the moment!
Dress for success
When in doubt about what to wear when meeting new professors or employers, always dress professionally. You can never undo a first impression.
Proofread
Along those same lines, proofread every bit of correspondence that you send out. A typo can skew an opinion faster than anything. And always make sure you have a person’s name spelled correctly!
Say ‘Hi’ to strangers
Chances are, especially if you are in a situation with other first-year students or colleagues, they are just as nervous as you are. Reach out and say hi—invite them to coffee. You never know who is going to be your next lifelong friend—or even just your friend for right now.
Go out and join!
Get involved! Join clubs or after-work activities. These don’t have to be the things that you do for the next few years, but they can just be things that you try now. You will be amazed at what you may enjoy and at the people you will meet!
Best of luck to each and every one of you! Come back to visit us next summer!
